Througout my relatively young life, there has been a certain constant: a fascination with entertainment. As a child, I loved playing with toys, reading comics and playing videogames. I was (and still am) amazed by the worlds they can create and lose yourself in.
When I discovered that there was an education in which you'd learn to make video games, I was immediately sold. After secundary school, I started ny education at Howest, Digital Arts and Entertainment and can now proudly say that I succesfully graduated. For three years I was surrouneded by the world of games and loved simply all of it. The art, programming, design and infinite sources of creativity.
But what stood most out to me was the design. Why do some mechanics work better then others? Why did the game developers take this decision and not that? What defines fun? What's the deal with fishing minigames? And maybe most important of all: how do I make good games that are fun and engaging? These questions is what keeps me going, and I am absolutely amazed by it.
A combination of curiosity and a lot of thinking fuels this passion for game design. My generalist skills also allow me to make my own little games and iterate on them, exploring mechanics and having a lot of unfinished projects (not to speak of the graveyard of ideas...)
With this passion and my enthousiasm, I'd like to persue a career in game design. I think that as a game designer, you'll get challenged every day in new ways, making sure you never stop learning. Sounds like a good deal to me!
